DEL Scoring Title Goes to Ulmer ’95
Congratulations to Jeff Ulmer ’95 of the Frankfurt Lions on capturing the DEL / German Elite Hockey League scoring title on his final game of the season. Jeff dethroned last season’s scoring champion with 74 points by repeating his younger brother Jason’s ’96 (Wolfsburf Grizzlies) heroics of last season! Both Ulmer Hounds earned their scoring championship titles on the final game of the regular season in consecutive years.
The Ulmer brothers have been toiling in the DEL for a number of seasons walking in the footsteps of other Hounds such as Dale Derkatch, Gord Sherven, Jason Herter, Shane Peacock, Derek Mayer, Chris Hahn, Alex Leavitt to name just a few.
Class Notes: Jeff Ulmer is the eldest son of lifelong Hound student, retired teacher, Principal & senior administrator Dennis Ulmer ’72 and his lovely wife Debbie. Denny and Debbie raised their Hounds in Wilcox and proudly watched their children graduate from Dennis’ beloved Notre Dame College with Jeff graduating in 1995, Jason in 1996 and Jennifer in ’99. Jeff and Jason both earned hockey and academic scholarships to the University of North Dakota and won National Div I Championships with the Fighting Sioux. The DEL German Elite League is definitely a family affair as not only Jeff and Jason suit up for different teams but they also compete against their brother-in-law, Jen’s husband, Quinn Hancock. We’re very proud to have such a huge part of our Notre Dame legacy representing Notre Dame in Germany.
